Sara Naumann of Studio SN offers three innovative Creativation workshops in the realm of papercrafting.
Why should industry professionals attend Creativation?
There's a power in the kind of connection you can make at a trade event that simply can't be replicated anywhere else. You'll take workshops (or teach them!), see product in person, and interact with other industry professionals. This is especially vital for those of us who work as solopreneurs, live outside of the US or simply get buried in the day-to-day requirements of running a shop or other small business. W e get a chance to really interact with others who have similar businesses. There's so much to learn from one another, and a trade show is a perfect place for that.
There's no underestimating the networking—by attending trade shows, I've gotten book deals, been invited to teach international workshops, worked on product development and made major developments in my small business and my career. That's simply not the kind of forward-movement you can do online.
What are you most looking forward to at Creativation?
I'm teaching 5 workshops, hosting make-and-takes, and demonstrating for British and European companies PaperArtsy, WOW! Embossing, and Aladine. I love showcasing my favorite brands to retailers in the US because it suddenly opens up a huge competitive opportunity for them—they see new brands, new styles, and new products that can truly set them apart from their competition.
What is one benefit of attending your workshop?
Any workshop you take at Creativation has the chance to change your business. You might discover a new brand, start (or continue!) a relationship with a vendor, or learn some new techniques to take back to your store.
With all of my workshops, you'll leave with an understanding of the type of product we're working with—whether that's embossing powder, paint, monoprinting plates, inks, etc—and develop a relationship with the participating companies. You'll learn new techniques and how to integrate them with your existing mix. And hopefully, you'll also have a little bit of fun!
