Creativation workshop instructors Alex Trimble and Pete Hughes of Sizzix discuss the importance of attending Creativation 2020, as well as their class, Sizzix: A Celebration of Making.
Why should industry professionals attend Creativation?
Attending Creativation is a great way to stay in touch with what’s new and upcoming in the market. There’s been so much expansion in terms of new product and new innovation, it’s an exciting time to be a part of the industry. Additionally, it’s important to continue supporting the creative industry as a whole and celebrate the artistic passion that we all share together.
What are you most looking forward to at Creativation?
We always look forward to the opportunity to showcase and demonstrate all of our new designs and products at Creativation. It's so rewarding to watch a product evolve from an initial concept with our Product Development team through to our designers showcasing the end results at the show. We’re expanding upon this opportunity this year by offering hourly workshops at our booth to help share a variety of lessons all focused on our Sizzix Making Essentials, Tools and Accessories. These will be technique driven makes using our newest products and exploring how they enhance the creative possibilities of die-cutting, embossing and stamping. The Design team here at Sizzix has such a passion for making, it’s always inspiring to be a part of their classes and workshops.
What is one benefit of attending your workshop?
You won’t want to miss the Sizzix: A Celebration of Making workshop. This fun and informative class highlights several exciting upcoming Sizzix releases showcased in three different projects. Our masterclass workshop gives hands on experience with unique making techniques. Plus every attendee will receive a FREE swag bag loaded with Sizzix product!

Instructors: Alex Trimble, Pete Hughes
Born and raised in Southern California, Alexis began paper crafting at 12 years old. She spent most of her college years working at a local scrapbook store, where her love for crafting continued to grow. After earning her B.A. in Sociology, she worked in casting for the television industry. But when the art world called, she followed her passion for making to Sizzix. As a member of the Creative Team for the past three years, Alexis loves spending her time searching for new techniques, designs and being given any reason to organize supplies into rainbow order. Her inspirations are often inspired by nature, travel and architectural design. She is currently enjoying reading, writing and learning how to embroider and watercolor.
Pete has been inspiring UK and European crafters for years. After leaving school, Pete trained as an illustrator, specializing in cartoons and caricatures before working for an educational publishing company. Pete has been with Ellison since 2005, where he enjoys producing projects for UK and European magazines, trade shows and demonstrations. Pete is also featured regularly on television demonstrating Sizzix products, including Hochanda. Says Pete, "My inspiration comes mainly from our wonderful customers."
