This month, we are pleased to introduce you to Marlee Honcoop, the Association For Creative Industries’ (AFCI) newest association senior coordinator.

Where are you from?
Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois.
What’s your favorite craft and/or hobby?
My favorite hobbies include training for races, including marathons and triathlons. Kayaking is another go-to for me, but if I were to choose creative hobby it would involve woodworking.
Any cool DIY projects you’ve tackled?
Building adirondack chairs, but as a soon to be home owner I think my repertoire of DIY projects is about to increase drastically.
What’s a creative project you’d like to try?
Refinishing furniture is my top project I’d like to try. I love the idea of finding a beautiful old piece of furniture and make it new again - Bring it to life.
What are some ways that you get inspired to create?
Three ways – The first is watching my two-year old play. He is constantly curious about how things work and loves creating his own version of what he sees in the world around him. The second is on a run in nature, there is nothing like it to refresh your mind. The final one is my spouse, he can look at something on Instagram or Pinterest and effortlessly create it – It’s as natural as breathing for him, not a skill I possess, but it is awesome watching how his creative mind works.
